At the end of September, BMW began making its next-generation X5 sports utility vehicle at its 4,500-employee plant in Spartanburg County. The new X5 sets another benchmark for driving excellence with powerful 8- and 6- cylinder engines, unique suspension, further enhanced xDrive technology and a weigh-optimized bodyshell with extreme torsional stiffness. The result is a vehicle possessing excellent agility and dynamic performance. <\/p>\n
The New X5 will be shipped to more than 100 countries from its factory in Spartanburg. It represents BMW\u2019s most overt effort yet to expand its appeal beyond driving enthusiasts with Y chromosomes. This new X5 is the only vehicle in its segment available with both Active Steering developed by BMW and Adaptive Drive (a combination of anti0roll stabilization and adaptive dampers). It is also the first SAV worldwide fitted with Safety Tyres as a standard feature. <\/p>\n
