Why does cooked chicken in a container and bagged chips smell like fart when you first open the container?

I just opened up a bag of Lay’s Barbecue Potato Chips and got the same effect. It *always* does that. How come?

idk but i know the feeling and if you have every opened a can of chili for hot dogs maaan it smell bad
