I have some plastic clothes hangers. They all have two little hooks or loops on the underside of the top part of the hanger. What are they supposed to be used for?

Sometimes clothes that tend to fall off the hanger have 2 loops on the inside seam of the shoulder to hang on those two little hooks. Usually female clothes have them.

  1. When you hang clothes that are knitted the garment’s weight will pull it out of shape. Therefore if you sew a thin satin ribbon to the inside seam on both sides of the garment and loop the ribbon up onto the hanger then there is a distribution of weight that prevents the garment from getting out of shape. Those little extra loops in the hangar are for those inside ribbons. They distribute the weight.

If you have heavy knits like sweaters or cardigans then you should fold them into a drawer to keep their shape.

  2. So you can hang a pair of matching socks with your shirt.
Myself, I cant remember what matches which. So once my wife leaves for work, I’m screwed. She just matches my socks the night before.
