Is it possible to add width to a D shaped shower rod?

Shower Rod

Do it yourselfer asks:

I need at least at least 32″ inside the clawfoot tub so the curtain does not touch me while showering. The width is currently 26″ on the D shaped side and the curtain hangs inside the tub about 3″ too far. Any suggestions?

i don’t know the rods diameter but maybe in the electrical dept. at the hardware store there are connectors for ‘conduit’ maybe a couple of those and some more conduit to extend the length, they may even come in pre cut lengths…hope this helps
