What to do about breakfast?

Desk Riser

Banshee Fay asks:

I’m not an early riser. I despise mornings, personally, but I know breakfast is supposedly the most important meal of the day. I’m not a “prepare meals ahead of time” person either, as I usally tend to forget to make it, or forget that I did make something. Breakfast is usally on the go, at my work desk, or not at all. What can I do? I was thinking of getting those meal replacement drinks or bars, but I don’t know the first thing about them, like which is better or what have you. While I know it’s not as good as sitting down to breakfast, is there anything you can suggest for me to have in the morning that will fit me well?

what about special k waffles? You can make them at work if you have a toaster there. Keep a container of plain non-fat or low-fat yogurt in the work fridge too, that way you can spread it on top of the waffles, it’s healthier than syrup and tastes really good.

  1. A great way to start your day is with a high fiber cereal.
Choose one with at least 3-5 grams of fiber per serving

1.Oatmeal is a great choice with a half cup of low-fat milk and a cup of sliced strawberries. Spinkle a little bit of splenda on it if you like it sweeter.

    2. 2 whole wheat waffles with a cup of blueberries is also a great choice.

    3. Peanut butter, eggs, and lowfat yougart are also good choices to make sure you are also getting enough protein. protein.

  2. Just mix some cottage cheese with yogourt, add some granola and maybe some fruit. There’s protein, calcium, fibre and whatever vitamins from the fruit. It takes like 20 secs to mix it all together and it tastes good. It’s also thick so you can place it into a plastic container with less chance of it spilling all over the place and getting messy. If it takes you a while to get to your work desk and you’re scared it’ll get warm, buy a bag of frozen fruit mix and dump a small quantity of that into there so all the other ingredients stay cold still, not too much or it’ll actually cause the yogourt and cottage cheese to freeze. You can choose granola mixes that come with raisins or nuts too, this will keep you full for a long time.

  3. if you don’t eat…you’ll actually start gaining weight.

meal replacement bars are OK but, they tend to have too much sugar or high fructose corn syrup (which is counterproductive)
then they also can make you gassy and too many supplements can be damaging to your liver.

You’ll just have to learn to prep in advance…make it a goal. If anything..drink a glass of WHOLE milk and a piece of fruit in the morning.

  4. Oatmeal packets are good to go ,special K bars , Odwalla juices are filling and have plenty of vitamins, anything in the morning is better then nothing.

A low fat yogurt and Special K bar is very good for being quick and at your desk

  5. a couple slices of that precooked bacon, it is very non greasy, and a couple of eggs along with a slice of whole grain toast is what I have. It takes about 3 minutes for the toast to get done!! This is more than enough time to toss the other stuff on a non stick skillet, add a tablespoon of water, and steam fry the eggs.

I have always hated to fix and eat breakfast too. Now I must do it!! This is a breakfast that is easy to do, fast, and gets you off to an excellent start on the day. Try it for a week or two and see if you aren’t more alert at your desk for most of the day!

  6. you should eat breakfast because that is the most important meal of the day plus research shows that when you eat breakfast you loose more weight!
