Debris of food particles can have several causes:

    - excess food remains on dishes/plates: scrape off all food remains before loading
    - filter jets can clog up: remove them and clean them thoroughly out
    - detergent can cake up: replace old detergent with new one or use tablets
    - try, if it helps when using the pre rinse cycle

I have a sand like substance that is on mine after the cycle is done. I think it is in my waterline, not sure.

I don’t have a dishwasher, but my parents do and my dad runs CLR through the dishwasher about once a month. All you do is put CLR in where the soap usually goes and run your dishwasher through its regular cycle. Make sure that it is completely empty when you do this. Put as much CLR in as you can.

Cleaning the dishwasher should solve your problem, but the others are right, you need to rinse your dishes before putting them in the d/w.

there is a filter screen in the bottom. needs to be cleaned and the mess cleaned out of the dishwasher. rinse dishes before you put them in the dishwasher.

You have to rinse the dishes off before putting them in the dishwasher.
If you’re not doing this them all the junk is collecting in the bottom of the washer and when the cycle starts it’s going to get it all over your dishes.
