first check the drain hose..in the back
of the refrigerator…sometimes it becomes clogged and dirty because of stuff coming out of the water.it is generally in rubber…open the fridge…there is a plastic gadget..connecting to the tube outside..
    get it out…and clean it…thoroughly
then turn to the side of the fridge access the plastic tube….clean it too…
    and replace all…same way….
PS. do all this while the fridge is un plugged please…
hope it helps….good luck….it takes about half an hour…to do…instead of buying..if this is the problem..i solved it once..this way…

Either needs defrosting or get your compressor checked.

it depends on how old the unit is. check the drain line from the inside of the cabinet. sometimes it gets dislogged, or maybe just clogged up with dirt. that water should go into the drip pan under your fridge and will evaporate with the help of the heat from the motor or a discharge line from the compressor.

That’s exactly how I came to own a new one last year.

If it is a frost free, it could be that the drain hose is stopped up. The freezer switches to heat mode to melt the frost and it runs to a pan under the refrig.
