    I going to install servers on my computer instead of desktops because they dont have all the crap on them.

    Is there any Way, to install Windows Server 2000/2003 or 2008 on a windows XP PC, so that i can select which Windows i wanna start, please?

  5. 5cottee says:

    Why? Server operating systems aren’t build for running as a desktop OS.

  6. 5cottee says:

    So it is less resource intensive; as well as the fact that aesthetics are not necessary, its only purpose is to serve client computers in an efficient way.

  7. dale456654 says:

    Exactly, and that also makes a faster desktop computer. Without spending half of the day disabling useless services, processes etc…

  8. TheKoolboy9999 says:

    Why isn’t window server 2008 having the window vista theme?

  9. lildaviid923 says:

    @LoadupGERProductions yes there is

  10. LoadupGERProductions says:

    Ahm, wow but HOW?

  11. SyconPhoenix says:

    @TheKoolboy9999

    Windows Server was built off of Vista. Having themes take up resources would be a useless endeavor. The themes is a service, that usually has to be started manually. It for performance purposes on most Windows servers.

    Hope I answered you question.

  12. SyconPhoenix says:

    @shilohkin6

    The theme service is most likely disabled upon install as default. Besides it being enabled will use more resources thus somewhat defeating the purpose of the OP.

    I hope I answered you question.

  13. shilohkin6 says:

    Yes.Thank you because it’s been in my head for so long

  14. chidercorrect says:

    What is windows server 2008 and windows server 2008 r2?
    Is there any difference?

  15. laptoplover2 says:

    He uses it as a desktop operating system because he didn’t wanna run Vista. You just run this and turn the Aeor on.

  16. Lia365 says:

    Can Windows Server run all the applications that Windows XP and Vista due, like autocad and photoshop? My primary reason for getting Server would be for 4 CPU usage for CPU intense applications, since Vista and even 7 only support up to 2 physical CPUs. Basically I would like to know if I can use Server like I can XP or Vista.

  17. dashwarts says:

    @chidercorrect
    R2 is only available in 64-bit, adds a few features (like domain caching for enterprises and school districts that run one domain districtwide), and was designed to primarily work with Windows 7 as opposed to Vista (although Windows XP or later clients will still work)

    Someone correct me if I’m wrong, I’m not running a server but I’m setting one up to learn how to run domains.
