Product Description
Cleancaf® Brand Cleaner and Descaler is an essential component to maintaining great tasting coffee at home. Cleancaf® is designed to remove flavor-tainting stale coffee oil residue from home machines. Its dual action formula also prevents the accumulation of scale deposits which are responsible for slow brew times and machine malfunctions. Portion packaged for easy use, Cleancaf® also contains a blue-dye which helps to ensure proper rinsing.

Directions: 1.Dissolve contents of Cleancaf® package in 1L of warm water. Pour into water reservoir. Put empty pot and filter basket in place. For espresso machines attach handle and place an empty container below.
2.Turn machine on and begin the brew cycle. For espresso machines, also allow several ounces of Cleancaf® solution to flow through steam pipe (into a container to avoid spray.) Discard entire solution once it has passed through your machine.
3.Rinse all components and repeat steps 1 and 2 twice with clean water only. Espresso machines remove handle. You may soak handle and filters in Cleancaf® solution then rinse all components with clean water

Wow- I was shocked at how much crap this got out of my Bunn… coffee maker.

Seriously, all the hard water scaling, plus the coffee stain buildup in the carafe- gone. I used a couple at first simply because it was so crudded up, but now it doesn’t take as long. I highly recommend this product. Just make sure you rinse everything out, but that’s easier that it sounds. This will be the cleanest coffee maker I have ever had.

  2. This is a facile descaler for my Gaggia Espresso machine. I used two packets tonight to go from a drip to steady stream on my Espresso coffee maker. The first package did not do much; but after doing the second package it worked well. I had not used Cleancaf for months; maybe since last Winter or Spring of 2009 and now it is Winter 2010. I used the coffee maker every day with hard water. The blue indicator dye works well to identify how well the rinse procedure is working. Such that when one gets clear water it is safe to use as stated in the directions of the package. I plan to use it more often; so I will procure the three pack package with each containing three individual smaller packages for single use.

For the record, we are not gourmet coffee drinkers. We drink coffee. usually masked in plenty of flavored creamers. But we do use a Cuisanart DCC1200 Brew Central with gold filter and when we do put in a finer coffee for company, it brews a very nice pot. So keeping it clean is still important and this product worked pretty well. Not perfect, and I am not doing it every week as the packaging suggests. However, we do it periodically (probably every month or two), which requires a little more effort than it probably would if we did it every week, and it does what I want it to do. So go for it… And buy in bulk… always cheaper.

I needed something to clean my coffee machine as the warranty required. Their product was a bit expensive to do as often as the machine seemed to like me to do it. But this product is pretty cheap.

Honestly, I can’t tell if it’s doing anything…which I wouldn’t be able to tell with their product either, but it seems to work the same way…other than being a powder and theirs being a liquid.

Someone mentioed the blue not going away I think in one of the other reviews…but I didn’t have a problem. I had no blue coffee.

I used this cleaner in my coffee pot this morning – 10 run-throughs with clean water later, the water that comes out is still tainted with chemicals. This is disgusting – I used it exactly as the directions indicated, and after two run-throughs expected the pot to be ready to use – the coffee that came out was horrible. Decided it might need another few rinses, and have been continually running clear water through it ever since – it is still not coming out fit to drink. I have no idea if I will even be able to continue to use this coffee maker, or if it will keep tasting awful regardless of how often I rinse it all out. There are no words for how disappointed I am in this product – if I could give a zero-star rating, I would. Don’t waste your money on this crap – just use some vinegar. At least that won’t ruin your appliance.
