On the surface, this looks like the wonder product. It slices! It dices! It’s from Starfrit! Well, looks are deceiving. The insert for the blade does not fit securely enough into the container. Each time you press down and slice something, the whole insert pulls out with the pusher and lid. Each time I had to pry the blade and insert out of the lid and pusher, reinsert it, place the vegetable, push down to slice/dice, then repeat. I finally gave up and switched back to my Nicer Dicer. It may not slice as well, but it works perfectly every time! I would not recommend this Starfrit for purchase.

    Works very easy.

Is good to slice onions, potatoes, cucumbers and green tomatoes. Does not work on ripe tomatoes. Makes perfect 1/4 inch slices.

  3. This slicer is great. I used it the other day to slice an orange. This product sliced the orange with ease, and now my son does not have to peel an orange at school for his lunch. It was about 5 slices, all uniform pieces. The only thing that didn’t work, is when you have a piece of fruit or vegetable with a hard skin, it was tough getting the blades through. Other than that, it is a great product.

Tried to slice lemons like in the picture, but got lemonade. Wouldn’t cut it at all. Followed the directions by cutting off the ends so the lemon would fit and sinking it into the blades to get it started. But all it did was squish it. Sliced some cheese and it worked ok. Seemed like a lot of strength needed for a soft food.

It’ll cut cucumbers and similar textures, but it’ll destroy tomatoes. You’ll end up getting ketchup if it doesn’t get stuck at the chamber first.
