    Zyliss Classic Cheese Grater

We have had a Zyliss grater for many years. Our first one was over 15 years old before it quit last month. We tried other brands and found them to be lacking in overall design and strength. Making the grating action more difficult because we were afraid the other brand would break. When we received our new Zyliss Classic we were pleased to find the design had not changed very much over the years and it was as strong as our first one. We liked it so much we bought another for our daughter’s new home. We highly recommend this Zyliss Classic Cheese Grater.

got tired of using those flat graters. this works great on reggiano parm. not so good on the soft stuff like cheddar or jarlsberg, but good enough. cleans easy.

Even cheeses like cheddar are too soft for this grater. The shredded cheese just mushes together inside the drum, and it is difficult to get out! If you try to use something to get the shredded cheese out, it just makes it even clumpier, and then it is hard to clean. It works pretty well for parmesean cheese, but I wouldn’t definitely not buy this grater again.

I bought this cheese grater based on the positive reviews it got in this space. While the Zyliss classic grater is well made and fits my hand nicely, it is a very slow way to grate cheese compared to the MicroPlane graters in my kitchen gadget collection. After several minutes of cranking the Zyliss, I gave up and switched to the more modern, faster, MicroPlane grater. Sometimes “classic” means not better but only “old fashioned”

Poorly designed and needs just the right size of cheese to get any shavings. It’s very bulky. My parents old metal cheese grater works much better.
