The unit works as advertised on my button-down shirts and sure beats ironing. The unit can take a while to produce steam (depending on how much water you have in the tank), so you won’t be using this 5 minutes before you have to leave the house. Additionally, shirts need to be left to dry a little right after steaming, otherwise you will wrinkle them immediately upon wearing. However, if I make the time to wash and hang a few loads of shirts, I can steam them all very quickly with this unit, which is nice.

Bottom line: Not good for individual shirts here and there, but awesome for batching a bunch at once. Also, proper technique can take some time, but then you can work quickly.

I love my Jiffy steamer J-4000. I haven’t used my iron since I received this. This is great for most dry clean clothes too.

  3. This J-4000 steamer does remove the wrinkles but you will never end up with the same look as ironed clothes. Its such a big hassle to hang the clothes and then steam, it sure does take getting used to. Also you will want to take the wait time into consideration to steam your clothes, you need to fill up the tank with water, pre-heat and only then will you get the steam after a few minutes. I believe it is not worth the effort for what you get! You will always need your iron even though you have this.

I purchased this product over the less expensive ones in order to get my hanging drapes really steamed out with a professional look. It didn’t work….or, it might have if I’d have had several days and countless hours to stand with the small head barely moving over every inch of the fabric. It’s also very heavy once filled with water. I haven’t even bothered to try it on clothes, because I can’t see that it would be any better. The big disappointment was the manufacturer will not allow returns on any opened box….so, duh? How are you supposed to check it out? Now, I’m stuck with a $200 steamer that’s in the way. Anyone want to buy it?

save yourself some time and hassle. Don’t buy this jiffy. Buy the one for the average household user. This one does take a long time to steam clothes.

It works great. I just wish I had bought the commercial grade one.
