The Weber One-Touch Silver kettle grill is perfect for anyone who wants a well-designed, no-nonsense grill that cooks up food deliciously. Perfect for backyard barbecues or just whipping up an evening meal, this impressive grill has a cooking surface (22-1/2 inches in diameter) big enough to accommodate six large steaks, twice as many burgers, or up to a dozen kebabs. And the One-Touch Silver’s classic kettle shape radiates heat evenly and keeps charcoal flare-ups to a minimum.
The barbecue pioneers at Weber–they’ve been making grills since 1951–know how to design a grill that lasts. The One-Touch Silver’s porcelain-coated steel bowl and lid are exceptionally strong and designed never to rust, fade, or peel. The grill’s hardware is of the highest quality. The aluminum vents and ash catcher won’t rust, and the grill’s tripod base, nylon handles, and all-weather wheels combine to make this Weber both exceptionally sturdy and easy to maneuver. Weber’s patented One-Touch cleaning system–a clever setup of lever-activated blades–sifts ash out of the kettle and into the grill’s removable catch pan. You never have to get your hands dirty–and emptying the kettle takes only a few seconds.
For those in search (or need) of culinary guidance, Weber includes a 31-page owner’s guide filled with cooking tips and time-tested recipes for grilling everything from pork chops to bratwurst to Cornish hens.
Weber 741001 22 1/2-Inch One-Touch Silver Kettle Grill, Black

With all the previous positive reviews, I decided to give this charcoal grill (my first one) a try. We have a gas Weber Genesis Silver B, so we really like the Weber brand. We figured we couldn’t go wrong. Oh boy was I mistaken!
Anyway, the Weber One-Touch Silver model is overpriced and not worth anywhere close to $80. You have to figure that most kettle grills work about the same…the only difference is the quality of construction and durability. Obviously, Webers will outlast all of the cheaper brands, and that’s one of the major reasons we chose this grill. However, this particlar model (22 1/2″ Silver) has a major flaw. The major complaint here is that the “ash-catcher” doesn’t catch anything because ash doesn’t fall straight down into the catcher…especially if there is even a tiny bit of wind blowing. We had ash flying everywhere! My patio, screen, clothes, guests, etc were all covered in ash!!! It was a big mess! THey might as well not even have the catcher there because it doesn’t do anything. Unless you like cleaning or have a gigantic yard, stay away from the Silver model of the kettle grill.
We have since returned the Silver model and purchased the Gold model. We had to pay an extra $50 for the Gold model with an ash-catcher that actually catches the ash. But at least my patio and my guests aren’t covered in ash anymore! Sigh!

I used to swear by the Weber as the best quality charcoal grill available. Sadly, this is no longer the case. I purchased a new 22″ Weber last spring and it was genuine junk. After a few months the interior cover paint began to peel badly and a month or so later two of the three grill supports began to pull away from the side of the kettle. By fall it was unusable. I’d stay away until quality returns. They got 1 star from me only because zero is not an option.

I have used the grill 4 times now. The wheels have fallen off and the legs don’t stay in the base. It is not designed to be moved around at all, even if you want to clean your BBQ area down, be careful when moving the grill as it falls apart far too easily. Don’t get me wrong, it does a fine job of the cooking part. I don’t see it holding up more than a year or two with this lack of integrity in it’s overall construction. I will end up re-engineering the legs and wheels so as to keep them in place permanently. Something I despise is having to tweak another manufacturers product just to make it right. Oh, and one more annoyance, then I’m done, I promise. The cheap plastic handles are the worst thing weber could have done to “improve” the product. They get way too hot, not like the old wooden handles that the previous models have on them.

The Weber Charcoal grill is the one and only charcoal grill. Know matter what the food, this little grill will make it taste better than any oven. And its real inexpensive.

This grill looks GREAT in the box behind a desk in my office!!! We have been grilling on the driveway the last few weeks since it has been 120 or hotter everyday. All we have to do is wash the driveway and throw our meat on the ground. Only drawback is the dirt but the big plus is we do not have to buy charcoal!!!! THANKS WEBER, Johnny Bryant
