  1. I got this to replace an old aluminum colander that had to be at least 40 years old. It does a great job and you can drain small items like orzo and rice without loosing any through the holes. The only draw back is it is huge. I will be getting the smaller model for smaller jobs.

Since my old colander broke I’ve been looking for a good replacement. The only ones I’ve come across are either mesh or pierced with large-ish holes. I never did like mesh ones, since they are flimsy and difficult to clean – food particles often get stuck in the mesh; the pierced ones have holes that are fairly large, so forget draining pastini or orzo; and, since the handles on my last one were soldered (not riveted), they fell off after 2-3 years. This was a discovery! Bowl and handles are one piece, and handles are covered with rubber so they don’t get hot. It is pierced all over with tiny holes, and has small rubber feet (soldered – we’ll see how long these last), so everything drains very quickly. Price is a little expensive for a colander, but it does have some great features. It’s worked out very well so far.

i had this crappy dollar store colander since college which had holes so far apart you could side a ship with it. when i sat down to figure out what little treat of a purchase i would afford myself in the kitchen, the idea seemed to scream at me through the cupboard door. it was time to end the era of that old colander and figure out which one will accompany me into my white haired years. the search was intimidating. so many choices. i placed highest priority on function and durability and i think i nailed it with this one! i like it for four main reasons: 1. the metal is thick, even though it 2. has a million holes evenly distributed across the entirety of it, 3. the rubber feet on the bottom allow water to flow out the bottom while protecting sink, and 4. the grips are very natural and wide enough to provide a very firm hold. in review, it works good, it’s gonna last forever and it looks pretty too. for a colander…

awsome colander, I don’t think it can get any better, sturdy, elegant, easy to clean, stands in the sink, holds everything, good quality, it is a little more expensive than others but at least it is better quality. I love it.
