this is great thank you for sharing this talent. I’m going to share this with a group of lady at the end of the month at our lunch bunch. no quilting this time.
I want to make a dress for my 6 yr old and a shirt for my 10 yr old! THANKS!! Is the video more detailed on your site? I”m checking that out! Just wondered about the ribbon.. thanks!
^_^ I love your videos, this is so much cheaper then buying new clothes, I think I am going to make a shirt using this, it would look so cute with one of my waist belts.
If you go to 6:15 into the video it shows how to connect the ribbon to the elastic. Then you put a saftey pin on the end od the ribbon and thread it through the casing and stitch the ends of the casing so it doesn’t come out. Hope this helps,
i love this dress too!!! seems doable for a novice like me- BUT what do I do if i want to use actual fabric? how much do i buy? etc? THANK YOU for these wonderful posts.
they are supposed to flare out and be wide, though i did feel that the elastic measurement here was too long… i personally use closer to 6.5′ for my 3 yr old… that gives it a much cleaner, less ‘baggy/too-big’ look. that’s just me though
I am a little confused as to how you cut your bindings. Its hard to tell how you folded the fabric in order to correctly get the right length and cut of them. Can you explain?
I tried to make this dress just out of fabric yesterday and guess what????? IT WORKED. We are off to Disney World for Christmas so i’m going to make minnie style and spongebob too. She’ll be the best dressed little princess in the parks. Thank you. xx
I would like to make a dress using put fabric(not a pillow case (how much do u think I need). do you know about how wide before elactic you would make a dress to be about pillowcase size ? would I just measure the girls shoulder to shoulder and add about a inch for the seem ?
I loved this vintage pillow case you chose. It really makes it look like an old (vintage) dress. Dresses like this I have always thought look great on little girls. I am gonna try that today and go get me some nice lookin pillow cases at a thrift store.
I’m gonna make a shirt with this!
Thanks.

What did you do with the elastic? I’m afraid you edited out how you put in the elastic.

I made two pillow case dresses for my nieces age 3, & 5 and their mom felt they were too big. Do you every make them narrower than the pillow case?

I have not made one out of fabric but I think a yard would be enough. I use 1/3 to 1/2 inch elastic and measure from armpit to armpit.
how long should the satin ribbon be? I have some ribbon picked out, i just dont know how long it should be?
@ctrcarlson four X 18″ strips. Thanks for watching!
