How do I clean my Birkenstock footbed without the Birkenstock cleaner?

I would buy the cleaner and use it. The only problem is, I live in the Philippines and they don’t sell it here anywhere. I’ve had my sandals for around 2 years and I wear them a lot. The footbed is worn and well, dark and doesn’t smell so pleasant. I’d really like to know how to clean it and get rid of the odor without actually using the Birkenstock products. Thanks!

The best way is to make a thick paste out of baking soda and water and then smear it all over the footbed. leave it on to dry. when dry then wash off the baking soda and let dry again. the footbed will now be fresh. baking soda is a miracle product-if you do an internet search on baking soda uses you will be amazed! good luck!
