I bought this vacuum after falling for the TV ad. I have owned many vacuum cleaners from the cheapest Kenmore to a true Electrolux. The least I have ever paid for a vacuum was $39 back in the ’60’s. This vacuum looked interesting to me and I was ready for an easier to maneuver machine. I got it home, assembled it (no problems there) and began to put it through it’s paces. I have one large room with wood floors and area rugs. To vacuum wood floors or other hard floor, you turn off the brush to avoid scratches and scattering dust. I did this and proceeded to vacuum the wood floor. This thing wouldn’t even pick up a light layer of dust, but if there was a dust bunny or dog hair it blew it around the floor until I got it cornered and then I had to have the vacuum directly over the offending piece of dust. It wouldn’t pick up anything directly in front of it or next to it. It did an OK job on the area rugs with the brush on, but I had to empty the container 3 times, because it is so small. I could do this room at least 15 times before I have to change a bag with my Electrolux. My advice: buy a cheap vacuum for now and save for an authentic Electrolux (now selling under the brand name of Aerus)

I purchased my Dyson from Amazon. Unfortunately when it arrived it had a manufacturing defect. The button that turns the brushbar on and off did not work. The button was jammed so that it could not be pushed. I called Dyson customer support. After a *long* wait I explained that the vacuum that I just purchased was inoperable. They explained that “policy” was that my only option was to return it to the point of purchase – i.e. ship it back to Amazon or I could take it to a repair center and have my brand new / never used vacuum serviced. Sorry but spending this kind of money on a new vacuum I did not want to have it repaired before I even used it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was put on *eternal* hold. I called back and asked for a supervisor and was connected this time. He explained the policy over and over. They were uninterested in helping me out. What did I expect? Just the type of service I have received from other manufactures. In other words they ship me a new vacuum with a return shipping label for the defective unit. But they were not willing to stand by their product since I did not buy it directly from them. So beware if you buy this vacuum. Dyson will not stand by its product simply because of where you buy it from.

This product is not worth the high price-tag. The cord is too short and the attachments are very awkward to use.

So this was a very bad experience.

I think that none of the reviewers have owned a good vacuum. I bought this vacuum and was very upset. It is not as it seems. And the price well go ahead and pay more for a royal or kirby. Not a good vacuum at all, I took it back the same day. Buy something good then you know what you have!
