Can you use a food dehydrator to prepare Chamomile for storage?

What about other herbs? What method do you use? Do you extract the active ingredient before storage?

All my herbs are done in a dehydrator. I put them in, put the cover on, and take them out when dry. If the leaves are large, basil, I remove them before drying. If not, the whole thing goes in. Chives take a long time, but taste really good on baked potatoes in Jan. What active ingredient would you extract? Unless you’re a chemist, it’s impossible.
